​The Heliconian Club is an artistic women's collective, founded in 1909, dedicated to supporting the arts in Toronto. Across generations and backgrounds, the Club has enabled women living in the arts to forge friendships and support each other.  ​All female-identifying individuals are welcome to apply for membership.

The Club has anywhere from 110 to 150 members at any particular time.  Collectively as a non-profit corporation, these members jointly own and preserve our unique heritage building: Heliconian Hall at 35 Hazelton Ave, Toronto. Our founding members bought the Hall at a time when women couldn't have their own bank accounts or mortgages! But these determined and vivacious women turned our now-150-year-old building into a hub for concerts, art exhibits, author talks, and dance events. We proudly carry their tradition into the 21st Century.

Our public programs are always open to all: Life Drawing, the Literary Lecture Series, concerts, salons, art exhibit receptions and more. You are welcome here, no matter how you identify.

The Club has six sections (click for more information on any individual section):  Dance, Drama, Humanities, Literature, Music, and Visual Art.

DISCOUNTS:

• In addition to having access to member-only events, members receive discounts and priority enrolment opportunities in all of the Club's programs. 
• Members are eligible for several discounted Hall rentals every year. 
• Member are eligible for 2 free hours of weekday daytime rehearsal time, for any discounted hall rentals.  

Membership Fees:

• Full Members ($351.70 plus HST/year).  Women actively engaged in the arts or those with long term interest in/support for the arts, who reside in the greater Toronto area (GTA) or its vicinity (within 80 kilometres of the Club’s premises). All female-identifying individuals are welcome to apply
• Under-35 Members ($175.85 plus HST/year).  Women in the early stage of their careers (35 years or younger) are encouraged to join, and receive a special membership rate
• Non-resident Members ($170.52 plus HST/year). Women who qualify as Full Members but who live outside the GTA (more than 80 kilometres from the Club)
• Honorary Life Members.  Life Membership is an honour conferred on a member of the Club who has given outstanding service to the Club over a period of 25 years or more
• One-time Initiation Fee: $85 plus HST

We also have several Artists-in-Residence each year, with applications due in April. They have the full benefits of membership, without dues.
