HUMANITIES

MANDATE
To nurture artists within the Club and in the community at large, actively supporting and contributing to the activities of the club, sharing the latest finds in performances, books and visual arts.

MEMBERSHIP
The applicant should be a woman whose professionalism, in a particular field, has been established and recognized by others in that field. The applicant has shown a keen interest in some branch of the arts over a substantial period of time. Humanities members have a wide range of eclectic interests. Among our members we have professional women involved in the law, marketing, education, film and TV, business and the arts.

MEETINGS
The section gets together every other month, or as necessary when responsible for organizing an event, either at the Club, or in a member’s home. Meetings are informal, with business first, followed by a potluck meal. At present our meetings are on zoom.

ACTIVITIES
We participate in club wide events such as the Concert Series, Salon Series, art exhibitions and book launches. We prepare a yearly Salon as part of the Salon Series. Our year is book ended by tradition: we plan and execute the annual President’s Reception and the end of year barbecue. Members of the Humanities run the Literary Lecture Series.

PLANS
A programme of outings connected to the Arts for the fall, winter and spring.
