The Heliconian Hall Foundation

National Historic Site Plaque for the Heliconian HallThis historic plaque was erected in 2011.
The Heliconian Hall Foundation:

Our 1876 building is a protected National Historic Site, and has been preserved and protected by the Heliconian women for over a century.  And so in 1991, a fully separate charitable foundation was formed with the mandate of preserving our beloved heritage building.

This standalone charity, the Heliconian Hall Foundation, can receive donations and offer charitable tax receipts to our donors. All funds are used for restoration and improvement of Heliconian Hall.

Looking Ahead

Light fixtures in Heliconian Hall
Ongoing projects continue to both enhance and maintain the atmosphere and historic authenticity of the Hall. Some projects include:

  • Full roof replacement (2025)
  • Chimney capping (2025)
  • Improved accessibility in downstairs washrooms (2025)
  • New pendant lamps (2022)
  • Accessible washroom on main level (2022)
  • Exterior access ramp (2021)

In coming years, the Foundation will be fundraising for the following projects:

  • Repair heritage board-and-batten exterior woodwork
  • Repair building masonry

Of course, all of these projects will require significant funds -- we hope you'll consider donating.
