One of the many advantages of joining the Art Section
of the Club is the opportunity to show and sell your work
in solo, small group or large group shows in the Club’s
historic gallery Heliconian Hall. There is no charge for
this but there is a 20% commission payable to the Club
for each painting sold.
Show Calendar
The Club year runs from September until the end of
June. Throughout the year, there is a new show every
month, details of which follow:
New Members’ Show
In September, all new Art Section members who have joined
the Club during the past Club year participate in a New
Members’ Show held during the month of September.
Regular Monthly Shows
After the September show, the Art Section stages monthly
solo or small group shows of its members’ work.
Art Section Members’
Group Show
Twice a year, namely December into early January, and
late May (to coincide with the City’s “Doors
Open” event) and continuing throughout the summer,
the Section holds a group show for its members.
Workshops
The Art Section also offers regular workshops, demonstrations
and or slide/talk lectures on various art techniques or
on some aspect of the visual arts. The current fee for
these is $10.00 for members and $15.00 for non-members.
Monday Sketch Group
Every Monday from September until mid-June, the Section
organizes life-drawing sessions with a live model for
Club members and non-members alike (10:00 a.m. to 12:00
noon for quick poses, and from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. for a
sustained pose.) The current fee is $6.00 for each two-hour
session. Early in May the Group stages a show of participants’
work in Heliconian Hall.
Communications
Throughout the year, the Art Section meets regularly
in the Boardroom to plan activities and to socialize.
These alternate between day-time and evening meetings.
The Bulletin
The Club produces a monthly Bulletin which is mailed out
to its members to keep them informed of upcoming events.
As needed, the Art Section may produce an insert for this
Bulletin with specific information for its members.
